Thanks for your support and two weekends of intense racing!
The engine proved itself to be reliable and ran perfectly for 200 laps. New camshafts will be going in soon that will boost the power by another 15-20hp at the top end.
The team worked hard to keep the car running at the front where I was racing in up to five races each day. The only issues were a red BMW GTR causing some minor panel damage to the side of our car, the clutch not disengaging when hot making it difficult going down the gears. This was a simple fix by increasing the clutch travel. On the last day we had a gear linkage fail due to fatigue.
Some awesome opportunities came out of the meeting such as a drive in a Formula 5000 (yet to happen) and a meeting with Peter Johnson (got Scott Dixon to Indy Cars) about a test drive in a V8 Supertourer. In three weeks I will be meeting with a team owner Steve Horne who I have been in contact with (has run many successful teams in the US in recent years). I will be testing the car along with top drivers for the main driver role. This will be the biggest and best race series in New Zealand and am currently looking for sponsors so I can bring some money to the table.
Best Regards
Andre Cowan

THE NEW ZEALAND FESTIVAL OF MOTOR RACING
The New Zealand Festival of Motor Racing was held over the last two weekend of January 2012, in celebration of BMW Motorsport. The festival was a remarkable event for any BMW or classic car enthusiast, with a few notable cars being released from the BMW Museum in Munich, exclusively for this event. These cars included the BMW 3.0 CSL "Batmobile", the BMW M1 and the Worsteiner E30 M3.
The BMW M1 was not only a spectacular sight to see in the flesh, but also to hear it on the track was unbelieveable. There was a fantastic range of BMW's and classic cars on display from the old E28 M5 through to the latest M5, there was a huge number of E30 M3's both on display and racing. The event attracted over 350 race cars and was believed to be the biggest gathering of BMW's in one place at the same time, even the guy's from Germany couldn't believe it.
The Bimmersport and BMW Club of NZ held a Show and Shine for their club members to participate in, the show delivered a range of BMW's all owned by enthusiasts who had all put a lot of effort into making their car look it's best - thus making the judges decisions much harder. The show was run in 4 categories and 3 heats leading up to a final on the last Sunday of the event. Only the winner from each category of each heat was invited back to battle it out against each other.
